The Board
The journal is edited by the board of the International Society for History Didactics (ISHD) Board of the ISHD: Susanne Popp (president), Markus Furrer (vice-president), Elize van Eeden, Katja Gorbahn, Harry Haue, Terry Haydn, Joanna Wojdon. Website The Purpose The purpose of the society is to promote the academic research and teaching of history didactics, focusing on issues related to historical thinking and consciousness, learning and teaching history, historical culture, and the education of history teachers. Our society functions as a forum for communication and cooperation between history didacticians in the five continents. It organizes international conferences, publishes a yearbook and other publications, and cooperates with national and regional groups and with other international research associations in order to support the development of history education and related fields, such as civic education. The Journal The International Journal of Research on History Didactics, History Education, and History Culture. Yearbook of the International Society for History Didactics (JHEC) is the official journal of the International Society for History Didactics. The journal is issued once a year and publishes peer reviewed papers in English. The abstracts are tri-lingual (English, French, German). The tradition of the journal goes back to the year 1980. The journal continues the former journal of the ISHD, which was published as "Yearbook - Jahrbuch - Annales. Journal of the International Society for History Didactics". All submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process with no regard to author's race, nationality, gender or political views. Two peer-reviewers are chosen for each article from the experts in its subject area. The peer-reviewer cannot submit a paper to be considered for publication in the issue where they evaluate papers. The authors are not charged any publication fees. All submissions must be original work and cannot be previously published nor considered for publishing elsewhere during the peer-review process. Each author should submit a statement assuring the originality of his/her work. It is the duty of the author(s) to take responsibility for the scientific accuracy of their research. They are responsible for ensuring copyright clearance for any illustrations included. In the case of any form of research misconduct, such as plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/ fabrication, among others, the editorial board will not publish the paper and will inform the author's institution of the issues arising from the submission.
